School Board Members

V. Faye Whitaker, President
Mrs. Faye Whitaker and her husband Paul have lived in Walnut Township since 1985. Her two children, Jeremiah and Jessica graduated from Millersport High School. Faye owns and operates the Olde Canal Restaurant located in Millersport. Mrs. Whitaker was first elected to the Walnut Township Local Board of Education in 2003 and serves as the board’s Legislative Liaison

Vince Popo, Vice Preseident
Vince Popo is serving his 2nd
year on the Walnut Township Local School District Board of
Education. He is 58 years old and has been married to Debbie
for 28 years. They have one son, Michael, who will be a
sophomore at Millersport High School. Mr. Popo earned a
bachelor degree from the University of Akron in 1974 and was
awarded a master’s degree from Kent State University in
1982. Vince is currently serving as the Mayor’s Assistant
for the Village of Millersport.

Carol King, Member
Miss Carol King is a lifelong
resident of Walnut Township and graduated from Millersport High
School. She graduated from Ohio University with a bachelor of
science degree in education and taught second grade at
Millersport Elementary School for thirty years Miss King is a
volunteer senior class advisor, works with the Millersport
Athletic Booster’s and Alumni Association. She is a
lifelong member of Grace United Church of Christ in Lancaster
and secretary of the Women’s Guild. Carol is completing her
first four year term on the Walnut Township Local Board of
Education.
Tom Cumbow, the newest member to the
Walnut Township Local School District Board of Education,
has resided in the
Karen Keller, Member
Mrs. Karen M. Keller, is our newest member of the WTSD Board. She has lived in the district since August 2003, with her husband Glen, whom she married in December 1984. They are the proud parents of seven children (two are LUHS alumni, two are MHS Alumni, and three are currently still living at home and are students in the district). Karen is an alumni of Brigham Young University-Idaho/Ricks College where she earned a Specialized Associates degree in Accounting and Data Processing. She and her family have lived in Ohio, Iowa, and Idaho. In each of those communities, she has been involved in the schools as a volunteer for PTO, volunteer classroom parent, room mom, substitute aide, and is currently involved with Millersport Academic Boosters. Karen believes in working hard for what you want, setting goals to keep focused on good works, and to always be honest in everything you do.

Kirk Grandy, Treasurer
Kirk has spent his entire life in Ohio.
He is married to Tonya and has two daughters, Jessica and Jennifer.
Kirk and his family reside in Lancaster. Kirk’s philosophy, both in
life and career, is to treat others as he wishes to be treated. He
enjoys golfing, walking, biking, and most ball sports. Prior to his
career as a Treasurer, Kirk worked for the Auditor of State for
three years. He left the Auditor of State’s office in 1992 to accept
the position of Treasurer of Southern Local School District in Perry
County. During his tenure at Southern Local, Kirk was also the
Treasurer for Perry-Hocking Educational Service Center for a total
of four years. Kirk began his career at Walnut Township Local
Schools on January 16, 2007.
