School Board Members

David C. Brookover, President

Mr. David Brookover is currently serving his second term on the Walnut Township Local School District Board of Education and serves as the board’s President.  Mr. Brookover graduated from Millersport High School in 1975 and from Ohio Northern University, College of Pharmacy, in 1980. Dave is the pharmacy manager at the Kroger Pharmacy in Pickerington.  He is married to Jennifer, a 1983 Millersport High School graduate, and has two sons, Craig and Kyle, both graduates of the Millersport Schools.

V. Faye Whitaker, Vice President

Mrs. Faye Whitaker and her husband Paul have lived in Walnut Township since 1985.  Her two children, Jeremiah and Jessica graduated from Millersport High School.  Faye owns and operates the Olde Canal Restaurant located in Millersport.  Mrs. Whitaker was first elected to the Walnut Township Local Board of Education in 2003 and serves as the board’s Legislative Liaison

Carol King, Member

Miss Carol King is a lifelong resident of Walnut Township and graduated from Millersport High School. She graduated from Ohio University with a bachelor of science degree in education and taught second grade at Millersport Elementary School for thirty years Miss King is a volunteer senior class advisor, works with the Millersport Athletic Booster’s and Alumni Association.  She is a lifelong member of Grace United Church of Christ in Lancaster and secretary of the Women’s Guild. Carol is completing her first four year term on the Walnut Township Local Board of Education.

Vince Popo, Member

Vince Popo is serving his 2^nd year on the Walnut Township Local School District Board of Education. He is 58 years old and has been married to Debbie for 28 years. They have one son, Michael, who will be a sophomore at Millersport High School. Mr. Popo earned a bachelor degree from the University of Akron in 1974 and was awarded a master’s degree from Kent State University in 1982. Vince is currently serving as the Mayor’s Assistant for the Village of Millersport.

Tom Cumbow, Member

Tom Cumbow, the newest member to the Walnut Township Local School District Board of Education, has resided in the Village of Millersport for over 15 years. He has two beautiful girls, Britany (13) and Bailey (11) and he graduated from Mifflin High School, Columbus, Ohio, in 1992. Tom has been deeply involved in the community from being the President of the Millersport Little Lakers (5 years) to being a Millersport High School Athletic Booster Board member (2 years). He has owned and operated TWC enterprises, which is an electrical contracting company, for over 13 years. Tom is also the general manager of Phoenix Management Group, a company which sanctions motorsports events through out the country.

 

Kirk Grandy, Treasurer

Kirk has spent his entire life in Ohio. He is married to Tonya and has two daughters, Jessica and Jennifer. Kirk and his family reside in Lancaster. Kirk’s philosophy, both in life and career, is to treat others as he wishes to be treated. He enjoys golfing, walking, biking, and most ball sports. Prior to his career as a Treasurer, Kirk worked for the Auditor of State for three years. He left the Auditor of State’s office in 1992 to accept the position of Treasurer of Southern Local School District in Perry County. During his tenure at Southern Local, Kirk was also the Treasurer for Perry-Hocking Educational Service Center for a total of four years. Kirk began his career at Walnut Township Local Schools on January 16, 2007.
