Outdoor Classroom

posted Jul 22, 2015, 5:24 AM by Joe Brownfield

In regard to the structure being built in front of the high school; it will be used as an outdoor classroom

for our students.  The pavilion will also be made available for public use.  We have taken complaining

phone calls and have seen negative comments about that project on social media.  The theme of the

complaints seems to be how can they be building a new structure and asking for new tax money?  That

project, as well as the revamping of the high school library, have been completely funded by the

“Straight A” grants we received from the Ohio Department of Education through the Fairfield County

Educational Service Center.   The “Straight A” grants have strict requirements on how the money may be

spent.  It cannot be spent on the daily operations of the school district.  We have also purchased

Chrome Book computers, ST Math software and professional development for teachers and

administrators through this grant.  If you need additional information about this grant and the projects

being funded by the grant, do not hesitate to call me at 740-467-2802 or email me at
