Change in Food Distribution Times

After evaluating the process at last Monday’s distribution, we feel it is more advantageous for us and you to change the pickup times from 5-7, to 4:00pm – 6:00pm.  The new pickup times will begin on Monday, March 30, 2020.

Due to the new orders given by Governor Dewine, we will be changing our food distribution process.

To cut down on the face to face interaction between you and our staff, starting today we will only have one food distribution per week.  That distribution will be on Mondays from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at the side door of the Elementary Cafeteria.

You will be given enough food for 5 days.  We ask that you stay in your car and we will hand the food bags to you.

It has also been requested that your student(s) be with you when you pick up the food.  We still prefer that, but if that is difficult for you we will still distribute food.   Just be prepared to give your student’s name and grade level.

Also, for the safety of you and our food service staff, please be patient and follow the traffic pattern we have established for the pickup.

If for some reason you are unable to make it during those times, please contact the District office at 740-467-2802 and other arrangements can be made.

Please DO NOT drop off the completed paper homework packets at this time.  We will let you know when to drop those off.

We continue to see social media posts that contain false information.  For accurate information please go to the School sponsored Laker Pride Facebook page (not the parent page) or the district website (www.walnuttsd.org).

Office hours for both buildings and the district office will be reduced to Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – noon.

School Closing on Thursday, March 12.

Dear Parents and Students,

I am sure you are aware, the Coronavirus issues going on around the globe, including Ohio.  The Walnut Township Local School District is taking a pro-active approach to prepare for the possibility of schools being closed for an extended period by authority of the State of Ohio or federal entity.

To prepare for this possibility, Walnut Twp. Local Schools will be closed Thursday, March 12.  The purpose for this closure is to provide time for our faculty and staff to prepare to deliver academic content to students for 10 school days in the event of a long-term closure. The district is uniquely positioned to provide alternative ways for students to engage in technology-enhanced learning opportunities through the district’s one-to-one Chromebook program.

The health, safety and welfare of our students, staff and community is our most important priority and by taking these steps will ensure the academic needs of students will still be served in the event of a closure.

In order for the district to meet the needs of your student, please complete the attached information form so we can be prepared to meet your family’s needs in the event of closure. Students should return the attached form to their first teacher of the day. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at the district office at 740-467-2802. If a closure due to the coronavirus occurs, the district will post all information for parents and families on the district website, Laker Pride Facebook Page, One Call Notification System and through email.

No Passes or Discounts Will Be Honored at the Boys Basketball Tournament Game

Millersport High School Boys Varsity Basketball Central District tournament game begins 2/20 at 7pm vs. Granville Christian at Millersport HS. NO passes accepted, including Golden Buckeye. All tickets are a $7.00 admission fee.

Sign Language Club Fundraisers

This fundraiser is through Stoller Fundraising and they are selling an assortment of pastries and dessert rolls. The club will get a profit of 40% off everything sold. Each student is listed on the online store, please choose a student to support. Each sale will go towards their individual trip cost to Washington DC. The money is due on December 9th by the end of the school day. These will be delivered December 18th by 1:00pm, so you will have them in time for Christmas!

They are also selling wax candle melts if you are interested, please let Mrs. Randolph know or find a Sign Language or Government student to buy from. The candle sale will be ending on 12/10 and will also arrive on or before December 20th. 

In addition to the fundraisers mentioned above they will be selling Color Street Nail Strips.  This fundraiser is completely online and all orders must be completed by 12/16 so that they will be available by Christmas.  Please see the attached document for further details.

Yearbook Pickup

Junior High and High School yearbooks will be passed out this week. If the student cannot pick their own up they will need to send a note to release it to someone else. There are a few extra books available.

HS books are $50.00

JH books are $20.00

Checks are made payable to Millersport High School.

Meet The Candidates Night
