Mr. Montgomery graduated from
Miami University
in June, 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in Math and
Physical Education. After three years of
teaching in the Northridge Elementary School, he left
education to enter the civil engineering and construction
field. From 1979 through 1984 he
continued his education in Biology, General Science and
Health at Otterbein
College. In 1984, Mr. Montgomery was
employed as the Varsity Girls’ Basketball Coach which led
him to re-entering the classroom in 1986 in Johnstown.
He received his Masters Degree in Education in Sports
Science from Ashland
University in 1989. In his years at Johnstown he taught
general science, algebra, biology, anatomy and physiology,
transition math, health/physical education. Mr. Montgomery
also taught in Centerburg Local Schools from 1988 to1989
where he served as algebra, math and biology teacher.
After, a few years Mr. Montgomery pursued his
Principals Licensure in 1998 and his Superintendent
Licensure in 2001 from Ashland University. In 1999 Mr.
Montgomery worked as the junior high principal and athletic
director at East Knox Junior/Senior High School. In 2001,
Mr. Montgomery became the junior/senior high school
principal Millersport High School in the Walnut Township
Local School District. He is still continuing at Walnut
Township Local School District as a Junior High Math teacher
since August of 2008.
Outside of work, Mr. Montgomery loves to spend time with his family (wife, two sons, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren), friends and he likes to officiate basketball, volleyball, baseball and softball. Also, he is involved in Community and Church activities for Johnstown. He also volunteers for the Hartford Fair Steer Pool Committee. Mr. Montgomery is a retired paramedic/firefighter and life long resident of Johnstown.
