Mr. Howard
attended Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky in 1980 and
earned a degree in 1984 in secondary education. His
undergraduate major was History with special emphasis in
American History.
Upon graduation from Asbury, Mr. Howard
began his teaching career at Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory
School in Indianapolis. While at Brebeuf, Mr. Howard taught
AP European History, AP U.S. History, and several social
studies electives. Mr. Howard also began his coaching career
at Brebeuf, coaching the Freshman Boys team and serving as
an assistant coach to the Varsity Boys team.
After 4 years at Brebeuf Prep, Mr.
Howard returned to his native Michigan and began teaching at
Southfield Christian School where he remained for 16 years.
Teaching numerous AP classes, developing a curriculum
for a Humanities course, and serving as the department chair
were the professional highlights of his years at Southfield
Christian. Coaching basketball, serving as a class sponsor,
and getting involved in extra-curricular activities and
ministries allowed Mr. Howard to enjoy working with students
outside the classroom as well as inside the classroom.
While teaching at Southfield Christian
Mr. Howard completed his Masters degree at the
University of
Detroit Mercy in
Liberal Studies (Humanities). This degree
allowed him to begin teaching college courses in American
Studies and Humanities at
Cornerstone University.
A move to central Ohio brought Mr. Howard to Millersport in
2006. Having taught only high school and college students in
his career, Mr. Howard enjoys the unique challenges of
working with younger learners, and loves the energy and
enthusiasm his students bring to class everyday.
In his time away from school, Mr.
Howard attends the sporting events of his two younger sons.
He enjoys getting away to Colorado to backpack in the
summer, playing in a brass band in Worthington, and
following the Michigan Wolverines in any sport they play!
