Steve Mohler
Mr. Mohler dedicated his entire adult life to improving the lives of countless Walnut Township students, through song, music, and drama. He passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on October 18, 2018, following a courageous 16 month battle with cancer.

Mr. Mohler  was hired in 1984 as the vocal music specialist for grades 1-8. In 1991 he was made director of choral activities for grades K-12. Mr. Mohler founded The Millersport Select (the first children’s choir in Fairfield County). His show choirs (The Junior High Select Show Choir and The Illumination) have won and placed in competitions throughout Ohio and the surrounding states. The groups have travelled throughout the Ohio area and have consistently received superior and excellent ratings at local and State adjudicated events. They have served as guest performers at the Ohio Music Educators Association conference and have performed for the International Sertoma Conference as well as in Washington, D.C., and New York City.  He was also School Play Director for Oliver, Annie Get Your Gun, Grease, Lil Abner, South Pacific, Legally Blonde, Beauty and the Beast and Music Man.  He was also the Marching Band Auxiliary Director 18 years.

Additionally, he was an active member of the Millersport United Methodist Church and the Millersport Community Theatre, where he directed many shows. He was on the founding board of directors for the Lancaster Chorale, and sang professionally with them for over 25 years. A student of Lewis Whikehart, John Goldsmith, Erik Christiansen, and Gene Allen of the Metropolitan Opera, Mr. Mohler has appeared in local television commercials as well as professional and community theatre productions. Mr. Mohler worked at Stanton’s Sheet Music before accepting the position at Millersport.

The impact Mr. Mohler had on the students and staff of Walnut Township Local Schools and the Millersport community can never be measured.
